It depends, obviously if for example you were shot in the dream it won't physically damage your body in the real world because that's just silly, like something out of a shit horror movie lol.
But everything -feels- real, so if you were shot, it would hurt A LOT and when you wake up you're in a shitload of pain and you actually believe you are dying.
That's basically what happened with the ruptured eardrum, my brain freaked out and told me there was a huge pressure buildup behind my eardrum from the noise and it popped. I didn't actually notice it at first because I was too busy gasping for air and vomiting my stomach bile.
EEP, I take it you vomit often from them then?
So if you were smacked across the head with a piece of wood in your dreams, You'd wake up with a massive pain in your head? (Just putting it as an example)
true, Owwww, Man if half the things that happened in my nightmares ever turned into night terrors, Owch.
I've always been confused about the myth of if you're killed in your dreams, you die in reality, How do they have proof of it, Once you're dead, You can't tell people that you dreamt it beforehand.
MEH! It's very confusing.
Night terrors DO sound freaky...The only person I've known to have them is my friends sister o.o;. But yeah! I love you work it's so twistedly awesome and so well done artistically ^^.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

Your brain is tricked into thinking your body is being injured, so you feel pain etc.
That's how they differ from nightmares, nightmares tend to just be a visual thing.
